TCM Achieves Major Inheritance and Innovation Breakthroughs in 2025

In 2025, China has made significant strides in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), marking a year of substantial advancements in the inheritance and innovation of TCM practices. This progress was highlighted at an official meeting convened to discuss the recent developments.
The establishment of 90 specialty departments in TCM was a critical achievement, focusing on crucial areas such as mental health, pediatrics, and gynecology. This diversification emphasizes a comprehensive approach to treating complex and major diseases.
In conjunction with this, a total of 212 clinical collaboration projects have been initiated, integrating traditional Chinese practices with Western medicine. This melding of methodologies aims to enhance patient outcomes through a more harmonious healthcare model.
One of the noteworthy initiatives, the "Modernization of TCM" key special project, has approved 57 initiatives designed to support scientific research. These initiatives focus on developing pediatric TCM drugs and addressing major diseases related to immunity and metabolism.
The research landscape of TCM saw the establishment of 13 national key laboratories dedicated to deepening the understanding of traditional practices. Additionally, 31 national TCM inheritance and innovation centers have been created to foster ongoing development in this field.
