China has recently unveiled a comprehensive action plan aimed at enhancing its certification and accreditation systems, with a focus on boosting industry standards and fostering international cooperation. This initiative, as announced by the country's top market regulator, is set to take effect from 2024 and will continue through to 2030.

The action plan, which was implemented on August 28, outlines specific objectives, tasks, and measures designed to achieve a high standard of openness in certification and accreditation within the stipulated timeframe. Pu Chun, the deputy head of the State Administration for Market Regulation, elaborated on the initiative during a press conference.

A key aspect of the plan is its encouragement for companies to leverage new technologies while also improving the credibility and quality of their products. As of June 2023, China had made significant strides in this area. It had joined 21 international certification and accreditation organizations, which indicates its dedication to global standards. Additionally, the nation has signed 15 multilateral mutual recognition agreements and set up 128 bilateral cooperation arrangements aimed at facilitating mutual recognition.

This strategic move is poised to strengthen China's positioning in the global market, aligning its certification processes more closely with international standards. As the world continues to globalize, such initiatives are essential for fostering trade and economic exchanges.
